Erin Griffey is Associate Professor of Art History at the University of Auckland and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries. She is a specialist in early modern visual and material culture with an interest in adornment and display. Her current research relates to beauty culture, with a forthcoming book entitled, Facing Decay: Beauty, Aging and Cosmetics in Early Modern Europe, to be published by Penn State University Press in 2025. She has collaborated with colleagues in Chemical Sciences at the University of Auckland since 2019 in reconstructing and chemically analysing historical beauty recipes. In 2022, along with Romana Sammern and Montserrat Cabré, she co-founded Beauty Talks, a seminar series on beautifying practices.
